“My love for flowers began in the home and started as a little ritual. Each weekend, I’d look forward to heading to the markets and picking up a bouquet of fresh flowers, adding colour and vibrancy to my space. It became a mindful practice, and now it’s still one of my weekly non-negotiables.”

Diary Entry: How to Keep Your Florals Looking Fresh in the Home for Longer

Choose the Right Vase – Find something that complements your florals and makes them pop. Consider the shape and colour of your flowers when picking your vase. Some of Salt & Stem’s favourite vases were collected during our travels, so keep an eye out when you’re visiting new places. Otherwise places like op shops and markets are also great spots to find unique vases and support local artists.

Fill Your Vase with Fresh Water – Typically, you’ll want to fill your vase about two-thirds of the way with water.

Cut Your Stems at an Angle – Cutting at an angle helps with water absorption. Be sure to use sharp scissors or secateurs.

Keep Your Stems Out of the Heat and Direct Sunlight – Florals love cool, shaded spots, so try to avoid placing them near heaters or with direct sunlight.

Change the Water Regularly – We recommend changing the water every couple of days to help keep your stems looking fresh for longer.

Add Some Cute Décor Around – Enhance the beauty of your florals by styling them with your favourite books, ceramics, or other décor. Enjoy and appreciate them while they’re still in full bloom!
